We all have those moments when we need to freshen up the bathroom quickly. I call them "quick hits". You want to get deep down, but time just doesn't afford you that luxury. Well, here are a couple of hints that I've picked up over the years that cut down on cleaning time until I can get down to the nitty gritty so to speak.

1. Bleach and water. Mix equal parts and put in a spray bottle. When you need to get the grout cleaned, spray this mixture on the grime and let sit for 15 minutes while you work on other parts of the bathroom. Rinse and voila! No more mildew stains between your tiles.

2. Baby wipes. Baby wipes can be used in a pinch to polish bathroom surfaces. You can use a dry cloth to finish the shining once the surfaces have been wiped down.

3. Ammonia. Soap scum can be treated with about one tablespoon ammonia in one gallon of warm water.  Make sure to rinse very thoroughly when done.

4. Cotton balls. Oh hello, secret weapon. Place bleach on cotton balls and put them in the hard to reach places in your bathroom. Leave them there for a few hours and you don't have to scrub one thing.

5. Laundry Detergent. Yes, laundry detergent. Want to keep mildew off your shower curtain?  Of course, you do. Wash your shower curtain and towels together.  Add ½ cup laundry detergent and ½ cup baking soda to your warm wash.  Then in the first rinse add a cup of white vinegar.  Take the shower curtain out before the spin cycle and hang dry. No more mildew.

6. White vinegar. Pouring two cups of white vinegar into your toilet bowl and letting it sit overnight is a great way to keep it looking and smelling clean. And vinegar can be used as a part of a weekly regimen which will reduce the water rings that appear above the water level. One part water to one part vinegar also works great on mirrors.

7. Wax. Have some wax paper in the house? Use it to rub the fixtures in your bathroom. When water or soap scum come in contact with the rubbed surfaces, the wax keeps them from sticking, giving your clean bathroom a longer life.

8. Eucalyptus oil. To clean the tiles on your bathroom floor you can use a few drops of eucalyptus oil, a cup of vinegar and about a gallon of water. Soak paper towels or old, clean shop rags in the solution. Let the rags sit on the floor for 30 minutes or longer. Wipe the floor with the towels and if there are still small stains you can use the remaining solution to scrub the floor again.

9. Mild detergent. Don't forget the walls and the ceiling. You can dust them or you can take a mild detergent and wash them. Be careful of the paint or treatments on these surfaces.

Those are my fuss-free ways for getting the bathroom clean, stat! What are your best quick cleaning tips?
