10 Red Carpet Styles to Work into Your Wardrobe (and 1 to Completely Avoid) (1 of 12)

Sweetheart Neckline

Fashionistas across the world, and quite a few of us average folk too, gathered around the tube last night to ogle over what Hollywood's biggest television and film stars were wearing to the Golden Globes. The hair, the make-up, and the gowns were all carefully scrutinized while we made our own best and worst dressed lists. And while it is fun to dream about getting all dolled up in beautiful designer gowns, most of us are more accustomed to wiping mushed banana off our sleeves and doing our best to not wear yoga pants every day. But that doesn't mean that there aren't ways to incorporate many of the elements you saw on the red carpet last night into your own wardrobe, and without having to don a slit up to your unmentionables. Here are ten red carpet looks you can work into your own wardrobe, and one that I hope we never see again.

Sweetheart Neckline

The sweetheart neckline was almost everywhere you looked on the red carpet at the Golden Globes, including on New Girl actress Zooey Deschanal. This heart shaped neckline is flattering for all bust lines (with the right undergarments) and can even provide the appearance of more bust than you've got (if that's the look you're going for). While it might not be the right look for the playground, when you're picking out a special occasion dress for weddings or other events this year, consider this style. If you are on the more conservative side, look for a dress that has this shape across the chest but also has a sleeve to it for more coverage.
