In 2004, Jessica Simpson had recently released her third studio album and she was in the thick of her reality show with then husband Nick Lachey. But she wanted more, and didn't want to rely on just one facet of her career. So, she ventured into the cosmetics industry, launching her Dessert line of edible beauty products like perfume and lip gloss.

That quickly led to a line of hair extensions created with her bestie, Hollywood hair stylist Ken Paves, and then she hit the jackpot -- quite literally. In 2005, the Jessica Simpson Collection was born, and it showcased shoes, boots, and handbags. Over the next few years, Simpson expanded her empire to include clothes for women and teens, sunglasses, accessories, lingerie, and more perfumes.

And it's since become the most successful celebrity line ever created. Her collection amassed $750 million in 2010, and it's expected to soon earn over $1 billion in sales in 2011. It would stand to reason, then, that with the impending birth of her first child she might slow down a little bit. But that's just not her style.

During her press tour for her new T.V. show, Fashion Star, she announced that she would be debuting a line of maternity clothes to fill a void she noticed while trying to outfit her growing bump. According to an interview with E! Online, she says, "You want stuff that's flattering to your bump; you want to show your bump off. We're going to come out with some really great stuff. Lots of cute denim for all the ladies out there who are afraid to get dressed up pregnant."

There's no word yet on the price points for her maternity pieces, but based on her other collections, my best guess is they will be moderately priced and extremely popular. The line will launch sometime next month, if all stays on schedule, so we should see what she's come up with in the next few weeks. You'll probably see her rocking some of her own designs, too, before she adds the title of Mommy to her already very impressive resume.
