Unless you've been hiding under a rock for the past three days chances are you heard that power couple and hip hop royalty Jay Z and Beyonce have welcomed a daughter, Blue Ivy, into the world. While there has been much discussion over them renovating a delivery room and blocking other parents from seeing their babies at the hospital, only a few people really know whether those things are true. One report that I have no trouble believing is that the duo bought a $3,500 crib for their new bundle of joy, and while some may think that's insane, as a design junkie I think it was money well spent.

The crib is reportedly the Vetro Crib by Nurseryworks. It is lucite and falls right into line with the other popular ghost furniture that has been sweeping the market for the past few years for both adults and children. Some commenters on the report suggested that this crib would be dangerous because the baby would be constantly bumping its head into it. I'm pretty sure the openings would offer some depth perception, but when debating whether these comments had much merit, I came to the conclusion that this crib is actually quite fabulous. When was the last time you preferred to look out a window with bars over a nice clear one? I would think our babies would like a nice clear view of their nurseries as well.

As for the price tag, it's a little hefty, but I easily found more than a dozen that were more expensive online including one that is $20,000. Considering this power couple reportedly raked in $72 million last year alone, I'd say if they want to spend $3,500 on a crib, then so be it. Good design doesn't come cheap.

What do you think? Is this crib cool or not? Would you spend $3,500 on a crib if you could?
