Now that I'm in my mid-thirties, it seems that it's time to start steering away from making too many purchases at IKEA like I did too to fill my first apartments. Sure, I can still pick up great knick knacks at affordable prices, but it's time to really take my house to the next level in maturity, right? The problem with that is that IKEA just keeps getting better. I was recently sold on their kitchen cabinets for my kitchen renovation, and now they've released their 2014 catalog, and it's filled with some really amazing pieces that are well-priced and even come with a good warranty. These are my five favorite pieces in the new catalog that I think are worth investing in (Note: they aren't all available online yet.).

1. Stockholm Sofa

I'm not really sure there is anything more to say about their latest version of the Stockholm Sofa other than that it's green velvet. For one thousand bucks you can get this striking piece that will add an immense level of sophistication to your home, and it comes with a ten year warranty. Add it to your living room, study, or master bedroom and you'll feel like you're living a life of luxury. It's also available in red velvet. (Stockholm Velvet Sofa, $999)

2. Fabrikor Glass Cabinet

This powder coated steel glass cabinet offers a nod to vintage apothecary style, and is the perfect spot to display a collection or use it as towel storage in a bathroom. It's available in light green, white, and dark gray and will never go out of style. (Fabrikor Glass Cabinet, $179)

3. Stockholm Cabinet

Along the same lines as the Fabrikor Glass Cabinet, but with a bit more refinement is the Stockholm Glass Cabinet which offers double doors and can easily be lit to show off your finest treasures. The solid wood construction and decorative hardware make this piece a great addition to a dining or living room. (Stockholm Glass Door Cabinet, $399)

4. Stockholm Chandelier

One of the greatest ways to make a statement in any room is with a powerful light fixture. The Stockholm Chandelier's starburst design makes a huge impact over a seating area, dining table, or in a master bedroom, and at a price that is unheard of for this caliber of a light fixture. (Stockholm Chandelier, $99)

5. Stockholm Chairs

For those who like a modern touch to their decor, the simple and sleek design of the Stockholm Chair and its sunny disposition thanks to its color are a great way to create a seating area that wows when you walk into the room. While they aren't for the color-phobic, if you're a risk taker, they're a design risk worth taking. (Stockholm Chair, $399)
