Welcome to the World: Three Sets of Twins Born Straddling Different Years

It's not all that unusual for twins to be born on different days, but entirely separate years? Even more impressive is that fact that the six infants took a trip down the old birth canal with half of each pair born in 2011 and the other half in 2012, as reported by ABC News. Let's hope their parents aren't too frosted about having to wait another year for 50% of their tax write-offs!
Interestingly, only one of the sets (Jenna and Leah Bear) were born within mere minutes of each other, clocking in at 11:59 p.m. and 12 a.m. The other Earthly debuts were separated by much longer spans of time. Ronan Rosputni's twin brother Rory arrived at 12:10 a.m. on January 1, a significant 33 minutes after his big bro. Nearly six hours separated tiny tykes Beckett and Freya Humenny, who were born at 6:40 p.m. and 12:26 a.m., respectively.
Twins are often born via C-section, but it's a pretty safe bet that at least two of these sets came into the world the old-fashioned way, thanks to the significant time lapse between births.
I applaud the efforts, however unintentional, of these babies for striving to differentiate themselves from each other in a world that often sees twins as carbon copies of each other, rather than distinct individuals. Now, every year they can recount the amazing story of their very first birth days, plus they'll have some fabulous clippings for their baby books. I'm sure their parents would have loved them every bit as much if they'd been born in the same calendar year, but you have to admit that it's a pretty phenomenal birth story, all the same.
Congratulations to the families of all six babies! Here's hoping they'll follow up their remarkable entry to this world with equally impressive sleeping abilities.
