The Amazing Sound of Music...
Cara and Mady and I watched The Sound of Music together the other night. It was a movie that I grew up watching each and every year when it was on TV around the holidays. It is absolutely one of my favorite movies ever made. I realized the girls had never seen it. So, I promised them that while they were at their dad's this weekend, I'd search high and low and find a copy and buy it! Good old Target came through, as usual!
So the three of us settled in at 7:30 pm to watch the 174-minute movie -- almost three hours long! I knew it was long but I thought I had only thought that when I was a kid with a short attention span! Now that I am an adult and still have a short attention span, it was still very, very long ... Yet very, very enjoyable! I got more out of it than I had ever caught as a kid.
I found it extra awe-inspiring and was able to show my girls a good, wholesome example of the difficulties we are sometimes faced with in life when we stand up for what we believe and persevere until we achieve our dreams!
I Googled the lyrics of the final song "Climb Every Mountain" and realized it's what I believe and live! I think I may just have to memorize the lyrics to be able to remind my kids often to…
"Climb every mountain,
Search high and low,
Follow every highway,
Every path you know...
Til you find your dream...
A dream that will need
All the love you can give,
Every day of your life
For as long as you live!"
Wow! What an amazing story... Hey kids... How about a field trip to Austria to "climb every mountain"??!!! I'm lacing up my hiking boots now...
