My kids say the darndest things
[From the TLC Editors: Check out these Kate Plus Eight Webisodes.]
Even though my youngest kids are six years old, I still find myself laughing often at the things they say...
The other day as we were traveling home from a faraway trip, Joel repeatedly asked me, “Mommy what kind of state are we in?” My first inclination each time I was asked was, “We are in a state of boredom,” or “We are in a state of exhaustion,” or even, “We are in a state of deafness” (from loud kids on a bus!), but I would answer him each time he asked ... “Virginia, Joel. We are still in Virginia, Joel” and so on.
One day last week, Hannah said, “Mommy, can I have a brush? My hair is atrocious as you would say!” That's exactly what she said ... She quoted me and told me about it with a cute dimply smile! So precious!
This morning, Alexis said, “Good morning, Mommy..." Then after a quick pause she said, “I say that every morning. I like saying that!” Yep. That's my Alexis! You have to know her to know that's the way her silly self talks...
Today Collin was asking me where a certain stuffed animal that he hasn't seen for a long time was. I told him I didn't know ... And that I actually hadn’t seen it for so long that I forgot about that one. His answer: “Oh, maybe we left it at the old house. We could go back and look but all the doors are locked!” I laughed and explained that the old house doesn't belong to us anymore and assured him that we didn't leave anything behind! But ... Oh how darling that was!
These are only a few recent things that I can think of. But in a house full of six year olds, it's a laugh a minute! I love to listen as my kids grow older and try to figure out our world! It's quite enlightening indeed!
It's a beautiful day! :0)
